Photo Workshops

Join nature photographer John Schnell on one of our photography expeditions. John’s images have appeared in Audubon and Nature Conservancy calendars, in numerous periodicals, and on the web sites of many adventure travel companies. Each workshop will feature great photo opportunities, and a wonderful learning experience.

During extensive field sessions, you'll discover how John creates his award-winning images. You'll also gain a deeper appreciation for the visual aspects of nature, during our visits to many of John's favorite locations. You'll learn how to select better photo opportunities, experiment with different perspectives, improve your photo compositions, and explore creative digital imaging techniques.

John Schnell Photography offers well-planned African safaris and Alaska expeditions, to some of the most breathtaking locations on earth. Our approach is simple. John Schnell has been the expedition photographer on numerous African safaris and Alaska expeditions. In 2009, John will be spending several weeks sailing on the Kirsten Anne, sea kayaking with Spirit Walker Expeditions, and whale-watching aboard the Taz.

I started my journey by heading into the heart of the Namib Desert. The huge orange sand dunes at Sossusvlei were impressive, up to 1,000' in height! Later, in Etosha National Park, I nearly ran over a lioness, which was sleeping in the road. As she stumbled to her feet, she walked right past the car door window, which of course was wide-open! The park is so large that you can drive for long distances, without seeing another person. Just lots of giraffes, elephant, zebras, and oryx!
