Travel Photographer. John's images have appeared in Audubon, Nature Conservancy and Sierra Club Calendars, and in numerous adventure travel magazines. John has lived in both Africa and Alaska, and during the past twenty years, he has photographed over one hundred Alaska expeditions and twenty Africa photo safaris.

Website Designer. John Schnell and Associates works with general contractors, specialty contractors, home builders, interior designers, and adventure travel companies. John brings creative excellence to every project. He gives careful consideration to the personal interests and business strengths of each client. He then creates visually engaging websites, using his digital imaging skills to make each site stand out, and his marketing talents to promote each company's brand, and provide just the right message.

Fitness Instructor. John has been a fitness instructor for nearaly twenty years. He currently teaches Zumba, Zumba Gold, and Zumba Toning classes in a variety of locations each week (see Zumba schedule). He also teaches Step Aerobics and Weight Training classes.

University of Alaska. In 2001, the technology slump finally caught up with John, and his traditional technology sales job "went away." So John went back to school — in Alaska! He taught business classes, and learned new web design and digital imaging skills. John received praise from his students, for his innovative Marketing and International Marketing classes at the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau, Alaska.

Peace Corps. While serving as a Peace Corps Business Advisor in Africa (1997-1998), John taught an entrepreneurship course at the Magamba Training Centre in Mutare, Zimbabwe. He also taught finance, marketing and business administration classes. During several one-month breaks at the training centre, John worked as an e-business consultant for the Zimbabwe Ministry of Tourism and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA). He also worked as a photographer for the Kariba Publicity Association.

IBM Corporation. During his lengthy career with IBM Corporation, John became an accomplished sales and marketing professional. He won several awards, including two Eagle awards for Marketing Excellence and Sales Excellence. John sold technology solutions to banks, contractors, distributors and manufacturing companies.

US Marine Corps. John enlisted in the US Marine Corps, and served for four years as an Air Traffic Controller. He became FAA Certified as a Tower Controller (6712) and Radar Air Traffic Controller (6722). His primary duty stations included: MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina; MCAS Iwakuni, Japan; and Marine Corps Expeditionary Force, Nam Phong, Thailand. He also served temporary duty assignments at classified locations in Southeast Asia. John's awards and commendations include: Honorable Discharge; Presidential Unit Citation; Good Conduct Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal.
