Adventure Travel Photographer. My images have appeared in Audubon, Nature Conservancy and Sierra Club Calendars, and in many travel magazines. I have photographed over one hundred sea kayaking, white water rafting, canoeing, dog sledding, sailing, and whale watching expeditions, for prominent adventure travel companies like Alaska Discovery, Alaska Research Voyages, Alaska Sailing Charters, Blue Nose Surf, Mountain Travel/Sobek, Sea Wolf Adventures, Spirit Walker Expeditions, The Taz, Tongass Kayak Adventures, and Whisper Marine. I have also photographed nearly a dozen safaris in Africa, working with well-known safari operators like Classic Safaris Camps of Africa, CC Africa, Robin Pope Safaris, Islands in Africa, and Uncharted Africa Safaris.

IBM. During my lengthy career with IBM, I became an accomplished sales and marketing professional. I won several awards, including two Eagle awards for Marketing Excellence and Sales Excellence. I sold technology solutions to banks, contractors, distributors and manufacturing companies. My leaderships skills lead me to mentor new sales representatives, with a focus on customer relationship management, e-marketing, and strategic planning.

Peace Corps. While serving as a Peace Corps Business Advisor in Africa (1997-1998), I taught entrepreneurship at the Magamba Training Centre in Mutare, Zimbabwe. I also taught finance, marketing and business administration classes. During school breaks, I worked as an e-business consultant with the Zimbabwe Ministry of Tourism and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA). I also worked as a photographer for the Kariba Publicity Association.

University of Alaska. In 2001, the technology slump finally caught up with me, and my job "went away." No reason to panic! I went back to school — teaching classes, and learning new web design skills. I taught Marketing and International Marketing at the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau, Alaska, using innovative marketing simulations.

US Marine Corps. I served as an Air Traffic Controller in the US Marine Corps, and became FAA-Certified as a Tower Controller (6712) and Radar Air Traffic Controller (6722). My primary duty stations included: MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina; MCAS Iwakuni, Japan; and Marine Corps Expeditionary Force, Nam Phong, Thailand. I also served TAD (temporary assignment duty) at classified locations. Awards and Commendations: Honorable Discharge, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign.

Website Designer. John Schnell & Associates works with contractors, home builders, remodelers, decorative artists, interior designers and more. I bring creative excellence to every new project, using my marketing talents to expand the market for my clients. I give careful consideration to the personal interests and business strengths of each client. I create visually engaging websites, and I maintain high standards for my workmanship and interpersonal relationships.

Zumba Fitness Instructor.I have been a fitness instructor for over fifteen years. I teach Zumba, Zumba Gold, and Zumba Toning classes in a variety of locations each week (see my schedule). I also teach Step Aerobics and Weight Training classes.
